Kondo KHR-1HV Build

This site will record the assembly, and early testing of the KHR-1HV kit.  The kit has been around since 2006, so it’s not a new kit, and with Kondo releasing the KHR-3HV onto the market, there may be a switch to the new model fairly soon.

Having said that, I’ve just bought my 1HV, and I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time learning, and working on it. There’s a lot of support out there for the KHR-1HV so it’s a good kit to work with, and is certainly no slouch when it comes to capabilities.

Head over to Robosavvy for help, support, sales and accessories. There’s a lot of very knowledgeable people over there who can help with all aspects of building, customising and expanding your robot.

This is the first biped kit I’ve worked on, so all of this is a learning experience for me, and although I’ve done some smaller scale robotics work, and my day job is as an embedded programmer, this is a much bigger project than I’ve tackled in the past, and will no doubt present a number of challenges.  These pages will record my experiences, more for my own record that anything else, however hopefully it will help other people out there getting started with the KHR-1HV.

Limor wrote a similar assembly guide for the KHR-1, which you can read here.  It’s an excellent guide, and shows the significant differences in design from the 1 to this the 1HV kit.

Now that I have completed the build and I’ve started programming the robot to walk, and adding the accelerometer, I’ve added a new section to the blog called Early Days.  This section moves on from the initial build to record my early experiences in working with the robot and Heart to Heart software. I’m also adding the RAS-2 accelerometer, so it will record my progress there.
